Sustainable Design Assessment in Planning

Organica Engineering has helped many Councils design and implement their sustainable design assessment in planning SDAPP programs, including providing consulting, implementation and training support. We have also helped many Councils implement sustainable design into their capital works and facility management programs.

ESD and WSUD Referrals Support

For many years Ian Adams and the team at Organica Engineering have been the technical and facilitation support behind Councils wishing to implement Sustainable design assessment in planning.

Organica Engineering and our team members have successfully introduced and established a similar Environmentally Sustainable Design Assessment process in the planning departments at Knox City Council, Darebin Council, Bayside, Whitehorse, Port Phillip, Yarra Ranges and Manningham Councils – and we provide the service of Sustainability Officer or remote assessing of permit applications on an ongoing basis. Ian Adams – principal at Organica Engineering - has previously assisted in the development of the BESS, InSite Water, and Green Star tools.

The role of Sustainability Advisor is undertaken by a qualified Organica Engineering staff member in-house or remotely as needed. Organica’s team have extensive experience Council ESD referrals including assessing SDA and SMP reports against planning ESD policies.

We can also assess stormwater and civil engineering drainage reports against the requirements of the Integrate Water Management (IWM) and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) Victorian planning policies (VPPs and VPFs).

Organica also have the technical capability to assess STORM, InSite Water, Green Star, First Rate, Music, daylight model and BESS reports. Our focus is on quick turnaround times for referrals cost effectively delivering support to SDAPP councils.
